Graph of Sentiment v.s Time
A full explanation will be put up shortly but in the meantime:
- The graph illustrates relative sentiment levels
- The higher up the graph, the more positive (ie, happier) the sentiment or mood.
- Labels across the top of the graph indicate times at which various countries appeared on the show, (as determined from the tweet traffic, as opposed to programme schedule).
- Tweets relating to an event or act can lag the initial appearance by a few minutes and can continue for some time after.
- Only a couple of events are marked initially, we may update this later.
- As examples, the shaded bands illustrate periods where the majority of traffic related to the indicated act.
We'll let you make your own conclusions and welcome and encourage comment.
More Notes:
- A proprietary algorithm which we have developed and customised for twitter colloquialisms has been applied to determine the sentiment.
- The sentiment score has compared favourably to human marked sentiment.
- The base traffic stream has been treated as a non-linear time series and filtering and downsampling have been applied.
