Log File Analysis
Knowledge Extraction Services have particular expertise in gathering and analysing various log file formats from systems as diverse as websites to packet sniffers.
For Websites:
Web analytics is the collection, analysis and reporting of internet data. 
Website traffic is logged and several products and services (Webtrends,
Statcounter, Google Analytics etc) exist to analyze various trends and key
performance indicators. Many website owners will be familiar with these systems.
However sometimes there are issues that cannot normally be addressed using these
routine options. Logs may have to be derived from packet sniffing applications
in situations where no server logs are available or where the logs do not, or
cannot, trap the required information (for example POST information in HTML
submisssion forms; user hitting the 'stop' button aka. HTTP 206 errors). We have
the experience to advise clients on what is possible and the software tools to
extract the required information. We have many years of experience working with
packages Webtrends, Google Analytics, etc, and the big daddy of them all, Accrue
Insight (now defunct). We know their advantages and their limitations. If these
products suit you, or we think they will offer you the results you require,
don't worry, we will happily refer you on...we have no intention of reinventing
the wheel!
We can also consult with clients in the design phase of websites to ensure that maximum logging of user behaviour is implemented. Too often we come across clients that require certain actions on their websites tracked but where this information is not available due often to poor initial specification during HTML coding. All may not be lost..we can often advise simple recoding solutions that do not require a site re-write.
Gateways
We also have experience analyzing WAP/SMS gateway traffic and turning this
traffic into meaningful information that be used to profile user groups etc
Other Logs
